West Ham attacker Michail Antonio’s wages hiked after contract extension

West Ham attacker Michail Antonio has reportedly seen a hike in his wages and will now earn around £80k- 85k/week before bonuses kick in.

On Friday (January 7), the Hammers announced that the Jamaica international had signed a new one-year deal at the club with the option of an extra 12 months.

Reliable Hammers inside ExWHUemployee claims that the 31-year-old is now on wages that match his status in the team.

He wrote, “An additional year option has been agreed to take him to 2024 but the main reason for the deal was to bring his wages more in line with his status within the team. It is speculated to be around £80k- 85k per week basic salary before bonuses.”

Good move

The Hammers are keen on signing a striker this window, but it was important that they retained the services of Antonio.

Offering him a new deal as his contract expires at the end of the season was the absolute correct thing to do.

His wages will make him one the highest-paid players at the club which is precisely how he should be treated.

Antonio has been a selfless player for the Hammers and has put in a shift in numerous positions for them.

He has established himself as their primary striker and continues to lead the line with aplomb for them.

Hopefully, he does not suffer any more serious injuries as it’s harder to recover from them at that age.
