West Ham are set to assess other targets before making bid for Watford’s Emmanuel Dennis

West Ham are reportedly holding off on any potential bid for Watford’s Emmanuel Dennis, with David Moyes keen to assess other options.

As first reported by the Express on Tuesday [24 May], the Hammers have held talks with the 24-year-old ahead of a potential summer move.

However, it has been revealed by the Watford Observer on Wednesday [25 May], that no is bid imminent and the Irons are looking to assess other striking options that are available.

Dennis is contracted to Watford until 2026 but could be set to leave following the Hornets’ relegation to the Championship.

It’s good that Moyes is assessing his striking options, but Dennis would provide a different option to Michail Antonio that the Irons need.

At times this season West Ham have become very reliant upon counterattacks and using Antonio as a foil for Jarrod Bowen.

The Hammers must be careful not to wait too long to make a move for Dennis.

Watford will be looking to cash in on the striker and rebuild their squad for a potential promotion push in the second tier.

Dennis has excelled in a fairly dire Watford side this season and has shown he has Premier League quality.

West Ham shouldn’t just be looking to recruit one player to compete with Antonio, they need a variety of options up front that can adapt to different scenarios.

Dennis won’t break the bank for the Irons and considering his age, he should be an option that the Irons thoroughly explore in the summer window.

West Ham fans will be disappointed that they missed out on the Europa League on the final day, however, they will be encouraged by the early transfer rumours that have surfaced.

In other West Ham news, the club met with the Juventus sporting director on his last trip to London to talk about a potential deal.
