West Ham are not that close to signing Nikola Milenkovic

West Ham are not that close to signing Nikola Milenkovic, according to a report from Claret & Hugh.

They claim that “a well-placed club insider” has told them that reports that the 23-year-old is very close to moving to the London Stadium are false, and there are a number of other targets being looked at.

The report also states that talks with Milenkovic have not progressed, and the deal is not imminent – as has been reported in Italy.

What to believe?

This is very confusing for Hammers fans and suggests that the Serbian international is not on the brink of a move to the Irons.

The fact that the information came from the club suggests that either the deal truly isn’t that close to being completed, or the Hammers are trying to keep everything under wraps.

The reports linking Milenkovic with West Ham have been pretty relentless, but it was reported on Monday evening that the deal was finally close to being completed and that the player had picked a move to the Hammers [Alfredo Pedulla].

So this claim from Claret & Hugh has certainly muddied the waters, and we will have to see exactly what happens.

We think that the Hammers will still sign the Serbian, but it could be a case of waiting a bit longer than initially anticipated.
