West Ham: Anton Ferdinand names Eddie Howe in fresh David Moyes replacement admission

West Ham United should appoint Eddie Howe if they decide to part ways with David Moyes at the end of the Premier League season, according to Anton Ferdinand.

The Scotsman has come under increased pressure at the London Stadium this season and while he has been offered a new contract, Moyes has stated he will not make a decision on his future until the end of the campaign.

While Ferdinand has repeatedly stated he doesn’t think the 60-year-old should be sacked, he has urged the Hammers to look towards Newcastle boss Eddie Howe if they make a change come the end of the season.

Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE (28 February, 8:20) he said: “If he was to go at the end of the season, I don’t see Eddie Howe being at Newcastle next year because they’re not going to be in the Champions League.

“I think they’re going to change and get somebody else, I’d take him.”

Will West Ham sack David Moyes this season?

Howe would certainly be a huge addition for the Hammers and would represent the move to attacking football that a lot of West Ham supporters have been pining for under Moyes’ management.

However, it remains to be seen whether Newcastle United will even part company with the Englishman at the end of the season as there has been little suggestion that the Magpies will be rushing into a decision based on the lack of Champions League football.

The former Bournemouth boss has impressed throughout his time in the Premier League and has a CV that is more than worthy of another Premier League move, but would represent a big shift from Moyes’ style.

This sort of speculation isn’t going to end until the end of the campaign, but compared to some of the names already linked with the post, Howe is one of the most positive and exciting.
