West Ham announce press conference change amid ‘significant’ Lopetegui sack news
Julen Lopetegui’s West Ham United press conference that was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon has been postponed, according to Dom Smith.
The Standard journalist reported via his personal X account (8 December) that amid recent rumours of his sacking, the Spaniard’s press conference has been delayed.
The journalist also added that Graham Potter is now “waiting in the wings” to take over the role.
“Significant update in the imminent sacking of Julen Lopetegui. The club have postponed his press conference today. Graham Potter waiting in the wings,” he wrote.
West Ham United are set to be taken over by Graham Potter
The last 48 hours for West Ham fans will have no doubt had them smiling from ear to ear.
The 2024/25 season has been one that they’ll likely want to forget as quickly as possible due to where they currently sit in the Premier League table.
David Sullivan’s choice to bring in Lopetegui in the summer has evidently failed and it feels like a lot more should have come from the former Real Madrid boss, especially with the amount of money he and Tim Steidten spent in the summer.

Potter is no doubt going to be the man to take over the London Stadium outfit and will likely have a positive impact on their attacking play as soon as he enters the building.
While an official announcement of Lopegtegui’s dismissal hasn’t yet been shared, it’s now clear that his departure is imminent.
Although Lopetegui’s stint in London was only short, it feels like this outcome is the best thing for both parties so that they can move on.
In other West Ham news, Graham Potter might have to mix his Hammers role with one in the PFA after their latest announcement.
