
West Ham and Potter camp work to thrash out key contract details – Romano
West Ham are “optimistic” that they will reach an agreement that would see Graham Potter become the new manager with the final details waiting to be finalised, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Via an update on his X account [8 January], Romano confirmed that the Irons are “discussing details” of his contract with an appointment at the London Stadium likely [Jacob Steinberg].
Despite the ongoing talks, Julen Lopetegui is still expected to take training [David Ornstein] but the update from Romano claims both parties are hopeful the “key” final details will be agreed.
West Ham host Fulham in the FA Cup on Friday [9 January] and, as it stands, it’s unknown whether Potter will take charge of the tie.

The update from Romano should provide a fresh sense of optimism among Irons supporters that the Lopetegui nightmare is edging closer to its end and it has certainly been long awaited.
Regression has been the keyword when discussing his tenure at the London Stadium and a change has been needed for several weeks with it expected to happen in the coming days.
Potter, although many will have their reservations, will be an excellent appointment and he has the capabilities to turn the fortunes around for West Ham

His attacking style of football will suit several players down to a tee with freedom expressed by players during his time at Brighton and its something that will expected at West Ham.
The Hammers still have time to make something of the current season and there are very few managers more capable than Potter to achieve that but the prolonged decision to sack Lopetegui has reduced those chances.
