West Ham ace Jesse Lingard up for two Premier League awards for March

West Ham attacker Jesse Lingard has been nominated for two monthly awards by the Premier League after some excellent displays in March.

Despite playing just two games, he’s been nominated for the Player of the Month award for the second time in a row.

Lingard played a starring role in our 2-0 win over Leeds and the 3-3 draw with Arsenal. He scored two goals, won a penalty against Leeds and assisted our second goal at home to the Gunners.

His goal contributions have taken him to five goals and two assists in seven matches since joining West Ham on loan from Manchester United in January. Lingard was duly rewarded for his strong performances by being recalled to Gareth Southgate’s England side.

It’s the first time in over two years that he’s been called up to represent his country and it’s thoroughly deserved.

Lingard’s stunning strike in the derby with Arsenal at the London Stadium is also up for an accolade. It’s been nominated for the Premier League goal of the month for March. What a remarkable couple of months he’s having in east London.

Back to his best

He’s been absolutely sensational. We’re running out of words to describe Lingard and what he means to this West Ham side.

Above all else, it’s just so nice to see him enjoying himself again. It’s no secret that he’d fallen out of love with football. His problems away from the pitch seem to now be behind him which is brilliant news.

He’s shown to everyone what a top professional he is. This could well be the best football Lingard has played in his career. His end goal was obviously to get back into the England set-up, so we’re really happy this has worked out for him.

It’s not just good news for him, but for West Ham as well. This taste of the national side will no doubt spur him on to keep his place for the Euros. He definitely has his work cut out for him, though.

England are blessed with an array of talent going forward at the moment. That said, none of them have done what he’s done over the past month or two.
