West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen hailed as 'excellent' by Ally McCoist
TalkSPORT pundit Ally McCoist was full of praise for West Ham man of the moment Jarrod Bowen after he scored another brace against Norwich City.
The 25-year-old was the difference-maker for the Hammers on Wednesday night as David Moyes’ side overcame the Canaries 2-0 at the London Stadium.
His form this season has seen many call for him to be selected in an England squad in the near future and McCoist agrees that Bowen is deserving of a chance.
The Rangers legend said on TalkSPORT’s breakfast show (06:20 GMT): “The one thing that Gareth [Southgate] does is he gives youth a chance and he gives people who deserve an opportunity, an opportunity,
“Jarrod Bowen’s form, particularly recently, has been absolutely excellent and I bet you big Moyesy and the lads are absolutely thrilled with him.”
Best bar Salah
On another day, Bowen could have scored four against the Premier League’s bottom club, as Michail Antonio did two seasons ago, but his all-important brace catapults him closer to the country’s elite.
The West Ham star now has eight goals in all competitions this season along with as many assists and he is starting to put up numbers that England manager Gareth Southgate can’t ignore.
His twelve goal contributions in the Premier League is bettered by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah who is enjoying an unbelievable season with 25 combined goals and assists so far in 2021-22.
Antonio and Watford’s Emmanuel Dennis both have 13 goal contributions (eight goals and five assists each) but Bowen has arguably out-performed them both in his best campaign yet.
He is shining brighter than any other English attacker in the world and that international call-up can only be around the corner.
And with the 2022 Qatar World Cup fast approaching, Bowen could force his way into the squad and potentially be a World Cup winner by December 2022.
