West Brom star sends message as another West Ham United exit confirmed at London Stadium
Former West Ham United star Grady Diangana has sent a message to Conor Coventry after his confirmed London Stadium exit on Friday.
The Hammers announced on their official website (12 January) that Coventry left the club to join League One outfit Charlton Athletic after his contract was set to expire in East London at the end of the season.
The 23-year-old West Ham academy graduate has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the League One club and is the second exit at the club after Thilo Kehrer’s move to Monaco.

Coventry took to his Instagram account (12 January) to send a heartfelt message to the Hammers fans.
He wrote: “Thank you to everyone involved at West Ham for all the help and support over all these years. I’ll always be proud to have played for my local team and will cherish the memories made and people met along the way at this special club.”
Former Hammer Diangana sent a reply to his former teammate with two love hearts.
Much-needed move
Charlton were looking to revamp their midfield with a couple of young loanees, and Coventry emerged as a viable option for the Addicks given he desperately needed an opportunity elsewhere.
The FA Cup offered Moyes the perfect opportunity to gage Coventry’s ability in the 1-1 draw with Bristol City in the Third Round on Sunday 7 January. However, the midfielder wasn’t used at all meaning he was already gearing up for an exit.

Charlton were always his favoured option as he wished to stay in London and it certainly seems a very reasonable and sensible next step for Coventry as he looks to rediscover his best football again.
Having seen his former teammate in Diangana leave East London and thrive elsewhere at West Brom, Coventry needed to follow suit and it was a surprise he hadn’t completed a permanent move away sooner.
The Hammers academy grad is a very talented performer and one who deserves much-needed game time elsewhere so a regular spot and influence in East London could do his stunted development the world of good.
