Warnock shares ‘Worrying’ West Ham United claim as Everton comparison made

Stephen Warnock has used David Moyes’ influence at Everton to share his “worrying” claim about West Ham United.

The Hammers lost 2-1 against Chelsea on Monday evening (3 February) in a controversial match at Stamford Bridge. Marc Guiu appeared offside before Pedro Neto’s equaliser after Levi Colwill looked to have fouled Jarrod Bowen in the build-up.

However, the loss marked Graham Potter’s third defeat since taking charge, and with ex-boss Moyes flying high at Everton, Warnock shared his fears for the Hammers live on Sky Sports News [4 February, 10:14am].

He said: “It’s interesting with Graham Potter because that’s three losses out of five. The style has changed but not results.

“What do you want: Style or results? Look at what David Moyes has done at Everton, who have pulled away from relegation. West Ham are still amongst it and it’s worrying for them.”

Graham Potter must start getting results at West Ham United

It is an interesting question Warnock has posed to the West Ham supporters.

Of course, football is a results business, and points are all that matters in the Premier League, but the fans can hardly be blamed for wanting to see an attractive style of football at the London Stadium.

After all, this was the main sticking point during Julen Lopetegui’s short stint in East London – the Spaniard’s pragmatic style was painful to watch and produced equally painful results.

However, Potter’s record since succeeding Lopetegui is becoming a cause for concern, with the 3-2 win against Fulham on 14 January his only victory in five matches.

Nevertheless, there is still plenty of reasons for the Irons faithful to remain hopeful, with Jarrod Bowen back in the side and scoring upon his return – he gives the side “something special” and will undoubtedly play a vital role for the rest of the season.

Furthermore, Evan Ferguson’s Deadline Day arrival is another much-needed goal threat, and hopefully James Ward-Prowse will be able to roll back the years at the London Stadium as he earns a second chance after his loan spell with Nottingham Forest.
