Warnock rages at Julen Lopetegui agreement with West Ham United live on Sky Sports

Stephen Warnock has raged at the treatment of David Moyes after it was reported that Julen Lopetegui had agreed terms with West Ham to become the new manager.

Fabrizio Romano delivered the news [6 May], as pressure continues to mount on Moyes’ tenure at the London Stadium. However, it appears the Scot still has the final decision.

According to Sky Sports [6 May], while a deal has been agreed between Lopetegui and West Ham in principle, the former Wolves manager will only take over if Moyes leaves this summer.

Reacting to the news live on Sky Sports on Monday (6 May), Warnock said: “Just show some class, West Ham. If this is the case, make a decision on the manager and let him know, one way or the other.

“If you’re going around now trying to find other managers, and you’ve sounded someone out and agreed a deal with him, get rid of David Moyes. Tell him that his time is up. At least, show him some respect.

“Don’t put the pressure on him to make a decision. It’s really classless from West Ham if that is the case.”

Will Julen Lopetegui replace David Moyes as West Ham United manager?

Moyes certainly deserves a lot of respect for his achievements during his second spell in charge at the London Stadium, especially having led the club to their first European title in decades.

While the fans will appreciate the memories created under the Scot’s reign, football is a results-based sport and the performances this season have not been up to par.

Especially slammed for his defensive style of play with such attack-friendly players in his squad, Hammers fans are hoping to bring in someone with a much more offensive outlook.

Despite this, the news of Lopetegui’s potential appointment has been greeted by mixed reactions, with some impressed by his managerial record while others are keen to avoid him.

West Ham manager David Moyes
David Moyes will manage West Ham United for the final time against Manchester City on May 19.

Though he does have experience in the Premier League with Wolves, that relationship ended very abruptly, leaving three days before the 2023/24 campaign began and has since been unemployed.

West Ham are certainly at risk of a nose-dive in the Premier League if they choose the wrong appointment, so fans are being very cautious with who the club hires this summer.

In other West Ham news, the club have been labelled “embarrassing” for the treatment of Moyes.
