Vladimir Coufal lauded after what ‘Excellent’ West Ham United star did for Czechia

Czech media have praised West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal after his performance in the Nations League against Ukraine on Monday 14 October.

The Czechs took an early lead through Lukas Cerv, before Ukraine levelled in Wroclaw thanks to a second-half penalty from Artem Dovbyk.

The 1-1 draw is enough to keep the nation top of their group, ahead of the November international break.

iSport.cz [14 October] reflected on the performance and noted how well Coufal had linked up with Rangers winger Vaclav Cerny down the right-hand side.

“Cooperation between Vladimír Coufal and Václav Černý on the right? Matěj Kovář’s body language? Excellent,” national reporter Michal Kvasnica said.

Vladimir Coufal looks to bounce back at West Ham United

Coufal has certainly done his prospect of game time with West Ham little harm while he continues to deliver encouraging displays for Czechia.

He has been a reliable cog in the machine of his national side for seven years and performed well to shut out Mykhailo Mudryk on the night.

While a regular for his country, Coufal has work to do to take back his place in Julen Lopetegui’s team, having not started in the Premier League since the opening two games of the season.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka appears as the first-choice option in the right-back berth as the club looks with a view to the future.

But Coufal is a consummate professional, an excellent option of experience to keep around the squad and could still be vital this season.
