Vladimir Coufal blasted after what 5/10 West Ham United star did for Czechia

Vladimir Coufal struggled on international duty as the West Ham full-back played in Czechia’s 3-2 win over Ukraine on Tuesday (10 September).

The 32-year-old was far from his best in the previous match, a 4-1 defeat to Georgia on Saturday 7 September, and he failed to impress again as he played all 90 minutes in another five-goal thriller.

Pavel Sulc scored a first-half brace, with Hammers teammate Tomas Soucek scoring from the penalty spot, as Coufal appeared to take the blame for both goals conceded.

Handing Coufal a 5/10 rating, iSport wrote [10 September]: “He tamed a long ball from Krejci and started his journey for the first Czech goal.

“However, a cross came from his side before the first Ukrainian goal, the second one being significantly on his side again.”

West Ham United defender Vladimir Coufal struggles again

Julen Lopetegui will have an important decision to make at the right-back spot once the international break ends and the Premier League campaign continues.

With Aaron Wan-Bissaka now available at the London Stadium, Lopetegui has options to choose from and Coufal could be at risk of staying out of the starting XI to face Fulham on Saturday 14 September.

The Czechia right-back was a regular under David Moyes, starting 36 Premier League matches last season, but he has had his fair share of criticism lately, which could seal his fate at the London Stadium.

That change already looks to be in full flow. Despite starting against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, he was hooked in the latter before being benched against Manchester City.

Wan-Bissaka did a brilliant job against the current Premier League champions, and Lopetegui really has no choice when it comes to his starting right-back.

While Coufal was not booked in his latest international performance, he still struggled in defence and conceded twice in 90 minutes, seemingly to blame for both of those.

In other West Ham news, a rarely-seen ace could be given the nod v Fulham, just one Premier League start since January.
