View: West Ham should go all out for 27-goal Argentinian Striker Valentín Castellanos

West Ham should go all out for Argentine striker Valentín Castellanos after Marca Claro reported on Tuesday [17 May] that the Hammers could renew their interest this summer

Castellanos, 23, has 27 goals for New York City FC in the MLS this season and has a £12million price tag on his head after interest from South America and Europe

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web [21 January], the Hammers had an £8.5million offer for the striker knocked back by the MLS side in the last window.

As reported by Marca Claro on Tuesday [17 May] Castellanos is wanted by River Plate as a replacement for Julián Álvarez.

However, it was also highlighted that Castellanos could potentially be keen on a move to Europe and that West Ham could renew their interest in the summer window.

The Argentine looks like a different option to what the Irons already have upfront and would be a great addition that David Moyes should pursue.

A 23-year-old with 27 league goals for £12million looks a no brainer considering the strengthening West Ham need upfront.

It is crucial for Moyes to continue the progression at the London Stadium and that will only be possible by adding some quality additions this summer.

His squad has overperformed this season and have guaranteed a top seven spot in the Premier League.

If the Irons want to continue to be a regular in the top six debate they will need to make some quality signings this season.

West Ham have the facilities, manager, fan base and spine of a team that compete.

It is time for the Hammers hierarchy to take the club to the next level.

After paying £27million for Nikola Vlasic, paying £12million for a 27 goal striker in a position the Hammers need to improve seems a must.

In other West Ham news, Martin Samuel has responded to the latest West Ham London Stadium developments dubbing it the “deal of the century”.
