View: Declan Rice silences the critics with attacking numbers at West Ham

ExWHUemployee has taken to Twitter to destroy a common misconception about West Ham midfielder, Declan Rice.

Being a defensive minded midfielder, the 23-year-old has found himself under scrutiny for his attacking output.

An ‘amazing’ table shared by Ex actually showed that the England midfielder has carried the ball forward more than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues.

Outstanding progression

Rice has really turned it up a level this season, he has come back from the European Championships like a new player.

Hammers were always aware of his sheer quality and desire to be the best but Rice’s development this season has been superb.

It’s almost as if his key role in England’s route to the final of the Euro’s made the Londoner realise; he is good enough to compete with the very best in the world and he is showing it.

His confidence is sky high which is clear to see every time he steps onto the pitch. This season he has been able to turn what used to be his biggest weakness to one of his strengths, with no one in European football making more positive runs with the ball.

Each season he seems to add something new to his game to take it to the next level and with a host of clubs monitoring his progress, West Ham need to do their best to keep hold of him for as long as possible.
