Update emerges on David Moyes future at West Ham United

West Ham and David Moyes are unlikely to begin talks over a new deal or his future until December, according to Paul Brown.

The former Daily Express journalist told Give Me Sport that the Scotsman may want to stay at the London Stadium for the long term.

The last time he had asked, the Hammers were understood to be very happy with the manager.

Brown said, “From what I hear, I think it will be closer to Christmas before the two sides start talking in earnest about his future. That seems to be the way that West Ham’s owners work.

“The last I was told was that they’re really happy with David Moyes. They were really impressed with the way he turned things around and the fact that he has brought them a historic European trophy.

“That being said, they want to see big improvements in the Premier League this season, so I think the next few weeks will be key to how the negotiations go because I’m pretty sure that David Moyes wants to stay at West Ham for the long-term.

“I’m pretty sure the owners would like that to happen too, but they will want to see the team’s form improve over the next few weeks.”

Proper philosophy needed

West Ham can’t just keep playing direct counter attacking football regardless of who the opposition is.

Against Everton, it was clearly there for them to seize the initiative and go and win the game.

Moyes even named an attack-minded eleven but did not take the shackles off the players to play on the front foot.

Such things will only end up costing them points and it’s because of the goodwill there is in the bank as to why he’s not under pressure yet.

However, a few bad results could see the pressure back on his shoulders and he’s got to avoid that by turning things around quickly.

Whether or not he changes his style of football, remains to be seen, but something needs to give soon as no side doing well over a period of time embodies the same kind of philosophy and continues achieving the same level of success.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are now frustrated with a £10m player as a behind-the-scenes revelation has emerged from the London Stadium.
