‘Unbelievable consistency’ – Daniel Gabbidon picks out West Ham Player of the Year
Daniel Gabbidon has selected West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice as his Hammers Player of the Year this season in the Premier League.
Club insider, ExWHUemployee released a poll on his Twitter account, claiming that there were three contenders: Rice, Michail Antonio or Angelo Ogbonna.
Gabbidon responded, claiming that Antonio was certainly the Irons’ Player of the Month, but that’s all that he could give him.
Rice has been given a lot of credit since his emergence at the Hammers, and it looks like that could be set to continue once the season ends on Sunday afternoon.
“Antonio Hammer of the month, Declan it has to be,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.
“Played every minute of every PL with unbelievable consistency.”
Antonio certainly deserves massive credit for his efforts since the Premier League restarted. The forward has scored in almost every single game, and who could forget his four goals against Norwich.
Without the forward, David Moyes could be struggling to keep his side in the top-flight, but that worry has been wiped away with one left to play.
Having said that, without Rice, West Ham don’t tick and the midfielder is surely set to go on to achieve greatness in the game looking at his career so far.
The 21-year-old has completed 3.1 tackles and 2.1 interceptions per game this season according to WhoScored – the most of any player in the squad that has played five or more games in both categories.
Mark Noble hasn’t been able to play as many games as he would have liked this season, and it has been Rice who has filled his absence perfectly – this award would be well deserved.
In other West Ham United news, this doubtful ace for the Villa clash has been pictured in full training for the Irons
