Troy Deeney has insisted that the atmosphere at the London Stadium is the worst he has ever played in as he reminisced about Upton Park in a critical West Ham verdict.

Deeney recalled being intimidated by the atmosphere at Upton Park, commenting that the London Stadium doesn't come close in terms of the noise from the fans.

The move to the London Stadium has been frequently criticised since it was confirmed, with fans still frustrated by the lack of atmosphere at the home of the Hammers.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [29 April], Darren Bent questioned: "We want to know which ground you've been to which has got the worst atmosphere. As a player, what's the worst atmosphere you played under?"

Deeney shared: "I found West Ham was the worst, the new stadium, I played at Upton Park and that was intimidating, then you play at the new ground and it's hard to feel the same connection.

"That's through remembering what the old ground was like, so I'd say West Ham."

The London Stadium's atmosphere has passed the point of being a talking point amongst fans after heavy criticism, to begin with, but remains a contentious issue in big games when the stadium can often feel flat.

Deeney has been publically vocal in his criticism of West Ham this season, having previously labelled captain Kurt Zouma as "really poor" during a poor run of results over the Christmas period as he continues to create controversy.

The former Watford striker also weighed in on David Moyes' future, insisting the manager's exit this summer could lead to an overhaul of the squad which he believes would cost at least £200million as he insisted Moyes is an "excellent" boss.

Deeney weighing in on issues at the London Stadium has become regular, but his new criticism of the Hammers will be one that is shared by fans who remain discontented and long for the atmosphere of Upton Park.
