Trevor Sinclair urges Jesse Lingard to join West Ham

TalkSPORT pundit Trevor Sinclair has urged Jesse Lingard to join West Ham United this summer amid reports suggesting he could be given a second chance at Old Trafford next season.

Lingard moved to West Ham on loan in January and enjoyed a resurgence that saw him make Gareth Southgate’s preliminary squad for the European Championships.

He didn’t make the final squad but the fact that he was in contention is a big deal, given that he was ostracised at Manchester United for the entirety of the season.

Discussing Lingard’s future, amid links with Paris St. Germain, Sinclair said on talkSPORT, “Can I just say, Jesse Lingard, get to the capital of England rather than the capital of France.

“You are loved at West Ham. Get yourself there, boy.”

To everyone on the outside, Lingard’s move to West Ham seems like a no-brainer.

He’s bagged nine goals and four assists in the Premier League and finished as our second-highest scorer.

He’s enjoyed the best football in a while under David Moyes and there aren’t as many eyeballs on him as there were at Man United or will be at PSG.

This will allow him to play without pressure, and having watched him for a number of years, that’s when he seems to be enjoying himself the most. He’s also earned praises from his former teammate Rio Ferdinand who’s referred to him as ‘amazing’. [Five]

Recently, The Daily Mail reported that Lingard is expected to open talks with Manchester United next month.

Insiders Claret & Hugh have stated that a fee between £15 and 18 million will be enough to get the deal over the line if Lingard has made up his mind to leave.

We’re hoping that Lingard has some time off to clear his mind before he realises that he’s unlikely to be a regular in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

At West Ham, he’ll be the first name on our team sheet and would help us in our first Europa League campaign for the longest time.
