Trevor Sinclair shares West Ham concerns on talkSPORT
Trevor Sinclair is worried that West Ham won’t back David Moyes in January, and it could cost the team.
Speaking on talkSPORT [08 December], the former Irons forward revealed that he thinks the club need to sign a centre-back and that they should trust Moyes to sign who he wants.
This follows from the news that Kurt Zouma could be out for some time, making the addition of a centre-back looking more and more important.
He said, “I think it would be a real shame if they just kept the purse strings tight at this moment and then end up out of the European positions because of it next season.
“It is quite difficult to get top players in January, especially if you don’t want to pay over the odds, so it’s going to be a conundrum.
“He will try and move the squad around. Declan Rice can play [as a] central defender as well.
“When you’ve got a top manager like David Moyes, he will find solutions to these problems.
“I just feel what David Moyes has done in the transfer market; you would back him. So if he does fancy someone and they are available, I would love West Ham to go and get a centre-half.”
Sinclair on the money.
It is hard to argue with anything Sinclair said here, really.
Moyes has proved since he returned to the Irons that he can make great signings, and given the club’s centre-back situation, you would hope the board will allow him to pick who he wants.
He hasn’t let them down in the transfer market yet, so now is the time for the board to support Moyes.

The Irons need a striker, and at least one centre-back or they would be putting too much pressure on their squad.
They can’t go through a whole season with just Michail Antonio as the one first-team striker.
They also can’t leave Craig Dawson and Issa Diop to play every match until either Zouma or Angelo Ogbonna return because, again, that would be putting too much pressure on the pair.
So, January is important, and we understand why Sinclair is worried, but we have faith in the board, and hopefully, they back Moyes.
