Trevor Sinclair disappointed West Ham are not signing Tammy Abraham

Former West Ham United star Trevor Sinclair has admitted he is disappointed Tammy Abraham has not moved to the London Stadium.

The Hammers were keen on signing Chelsea striker, but the Blues £40million asking price made a deal impossible, with Atalanta now favourites [Daily Mail].

The England international, 23, is set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer due to the imminent arrival of Romelu Lukaku, but Premier League clubs are unable to meet his club’s demands.

“I was disappointed Tammy Abraham hasn’t gone to West Ham,” Sinclair told talkSPORT on Monday morning, as shown on their official Twitter account.

“How can Arsenal not sign Tammy Abraham? Why is he not on their list? And if he’s on their list, how’s it that Arsenal cannot recruit Tammy Abraham.

“He’s a London lad and he’s end up going to Atalanta, which must be more attractive for him.”

Huge fee

West Ham really need a striker for the new season, and while one with Premier League experience would be perfect for us, we do not see this board splashing £40million on the Chelsea man.

Whether Abraham is really worth that fee is a debate for another day, but not many clubs outside of the traditional powerhouses can afford to spend that much on a striker in the Premier League right now.

Manager David Moyes made it clear very early in the summer that the Irons would not be signing Abraham for the £40million fee Chelsea are asking [Sky Sports], and nothing has changed.

We clearly cannot afford to from the look of things, and with a centre-back of greater priority, West Ham could end the summer transfer window without signing a new striker from the look of things.

Moyes was unable to get one in January after Sebastien Haller left for Ajax, and it does not appear that he is any closer to landing one now.

There are still three weeks left before the market shuts, and it will be interesting to see whether a central forward will be brought in, but things are not looking too good right now.
