Tottenham show very real in West Ham United target Ben Brereton Diaz

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in West Ham United target Ben Brereton Diaz is very real, according to a report by Claret & Hugh on Monday [June 20].

The Blackburn Rovers talisman netted 22 times and bagged three assists in 37 Championship games during the 2021/22 campaign.

According to a previous report by The Sun [06 June], Rovers are only looking for a £13million fee after activating a one-year extension in his contract.

David Moyes is said to appreciate his talent but should Diaz come to the London Stadium he would be a backup option for mainstay Michail Antonio.

However, the Irons will face competition from their bitter north London rivals who have repeatedly sent scouts to monitor the Chile international ahead of a potential summer swoop.

Rapid.

Almost £13million for a number two striker could be considered hefty. If West Ham are seriously interested in Diaz they should try and haggle the Championship club down as much as possible.

After all, he is out of contract next summer so would they rather pick up a decent fee for him now or watch him leave for free?

This is a deal certainly worth doing, especially considering how old Antonio is. The Jamaica international isn’t going to continue forever and at 32 he is certainly coming towards the end of his career – the best of it at least.

Diaz is still very young and producing impressive numbers in one of the toughest leagues in the world which shouldn’t be ignored.

Put him in a team with better players and he could really take his game to the next level.

Moyes and co have to be quick though because Tottenham mean business in the transfer window.
