Tony Cottee: Gianluca Scamacca can score 20 goals a season for West Ham United
Tony Cottee believes Gianluca Scamacca can score 20 goals for West Ham a season after his big-money move from Sassuolo in the summer.
The 23-year-old has six goals in all competitions for the Irons and netted his first Premier League goal in the Hammers’ 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Cottee likes what he has seen so far from the striker and believes he will be a really good prospect for the club moving forward.

Talking exclusively to West Ham Way (13 October), Cottee said: “I’d like to think he can get us 20 goals a season. I’m genuinely excited from what I have seen so far. To play up front for Italy you’ve got to be a good player.
“Already technically, when you look at how he strikes the ball, he does look like a really really good prospect.”
Good start
A lot of fans were questioning the way David Moyes was handling the striker after his summer move to the London Stadium. The Scot gave him sporadic game time in the opening months of the season which resulted in Scamacca not quote hitting the ground running.
However, it now looks like an inspired decision from the West Ham boss, with the Italy international now adapting well to life in the Premier League and being an important part in West Ham’s upturn in Premier League form. If he had been thrown into the mix during the Irons’ poor start to the Premier League season, his confidence could well have been impacted.

20 goals in his first full season is a big ask for the 23-year-old, but if he gets a consistent run of games then there should be no reason why he can’t get near the total in all competitions this season.
Scamacca has also shown that his game is much more than just scoring goals, with the Italian displaying his ability to hold the ball up and link play with the Irons’ more creative players.
