Tony Cottee has confirmed that he will join the club as an employee should PAI Capital complete their takeover of West Ham.

The former West Ham striker was invited by the consortium a few weeks ago to meet them and get him on board with their takeover attempt.

In his words, he met with them on Thursday, and speaking to Dave Walker, who is the host of ExWHUemployee's The West Ham Way podcast, he revealed their intentions post takeover.

He said, "If this takeover goes through I want to be a part of this club. I would be someone who can liaise with the fans and also give football opinions to help in the decision-making process.

"I can confirm I will be part of the club and working full time at the club (if the takeover happens). Fans are often the last ones to hear about the big decisions so I want to serve as a liaison to the fans.

"They [PAI] are the right ones to take the club forward. It is the right thing for the club. It's not about individuals and as fans we all care about our football club."

Positive signs

First the Ferdinand brothers and now one of our most revered attackers of the 80s, it seems like PAI Capital are doing all the right things in terms of pitching their ideas to the ex-professionals.

It's rare to see so many former players get behind a takeover, so there seems to genuinely be more beneath the surface than is being let out to the general public.

In his interview, Cottee said that was the case, but clarified that he wasn't getting paid for this PR drive, but would like to as a full-time employee, should the takeover happen.

He's spot on about fans and the club being disconnected and hopefully, an ex-player like him who's so passionate about the Hammers can help bridge that gap and make us feel more involved in what's going on.

We're expecting to see a second bid in due course and then it's all down to David Sullivan and the board as to whether or not they decide to sell.

It's interesting to see this gain so much traction and not fizzle out.

Hopefully, we see some significant progress in the coming weeks.
