Tony Cascarino slams West Ham United as he shares Lucas Paqueta verdict live on talkSPORT
Tony Cascarino has been amused by flair player Lucas Paqueta playing for West Ham amid claims that David Moyes’ style of football is “dull”.
The Brazilian midfielder was spotlighted during England’s 1-0 loss to Brazil in an international friendly on Saturday 23 March, causing havoc in the middle of the park and threatening Jordan Pickford’s goal on multiple occasions.
Trickery, magic on the ball, and natural ability make Paqueta one of the most exciting attacking players in the Premier League, though Hammers fans continue to worry about Moyes’ defensive tactics at the London Stadium.
Speaking live via talkSPORT on Sunday (24 March, 6:13am), Cascarino said: “West Ham have got a player in Lucas Paqueta, that when he plays [for Brazil], he is so Brazilian with the things he does?
“Yet, he’s in the West Ham team – a team that is quite dull, or seemingly one that the fans are bored of. It’s quite funny.”
Lucas Paqueta brings excitement to West Ham United
As well as being one of the most exciting players in the Premier League, Paqueta is also one of the most, if not the most, important players Moyes currently has at his disposal.
The 26-year-old brings a sense of magic to the pitch at the London Stadium, pushing his teammates up the pitch and creating formidable relationships with Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus.
The significance of Paqueta’s impact was showcased when the Brazilian was injured for several weeks, with West Ham unable to win a single match in 2024 until his return, beating Brentford in a 4-2 thriller on Monday 26 February.

With Europa League football still to play, coming up against Bayer Leverkusen in the quarter-finals, the midfielder’s anticipated return came just at the right time for Moyes, who has been feeling the pressure in recent weeks.
Hammers fans may need to make the most of their Brazilian maestro, with his performances gaining interest from other European giants, especially Manchester City ahead of the summer transfer window.
In other West Ham news, club chiefs are apparently involved in a major dispute behind the scenes with rivals over big-money.
