Tomas Soucek sends emotional message to West Ham fans after return to training

Tomas Soucek recently returned to West Ham training after an extended leave of absence having played in the knockout rounds of Euro 2020.

The Hammers midfielder took to Twitter to share a video of him with his teammates training ahead of the new season and their remaining pre-season friendlies.

Via his personal Twitter account, he also sent an emotional message to the West Ham fans as they will now be allowed back in o the London Stadium.

He wrote, “After a long time, [I am] again in training in London. I was really looking forward to it.

“We have a great season with our group and I will do everything to make it as far as possible in the Premier League and the cups.

“But what I’m most looking forward to are the fans in the stadiums. Football is not without them.”

Absolutely true

Football is indeed nothing without its fans. Historically, it has been fans who’ve started clubs and have been the ones that have kept them afloat over the years.

Even players tend to have a special affiliation with fans and Soucek is undoubtedly one of the favourites here at the London Stadium.

Despite being at the club for a relatively short time, he’s built an amazing connection with the Hammers faithful, and we’re delighted to have a player like him in our books.

He’s a model professional who gets on about his job no questions asked and is also known to be a likeable person behind closed doors.

On the pitch, his performances in the middle and final thirds last season, were pivotal in guiding us to our highest league finish in over two decades.

David Moyes has undoubtedly given him the confidence to thrive, but often players tend to get carried away by the occasion.

Soucek has stayed focus on the task and it’s a pleasure to see him back training for us.
