Tomas Soucek provides update after being kicked in the face v Everton

Tomas Soucek has taken to social media to provide an update after he was left injured during West Ham United’s clash against Everton.

The Hammers secured a 1-0 win at Goodison Park thanks to Angelo Ogbonna’s second-half header, but the Czech Republic international midfielder had to be withdrawn towards the closing stages of the game after a collision with Salomon Rondon left him with a bloodied face.

Soucek took some damage, went off the pitch to the dressing room for quick treatment but was not able to return, with Craig Dawson taking his place.

The 26-year-old has now taken to his personal Twitter account to send a message to worried fans.

He said: “A few more stitches on my face, to add to my collection.

“I never give up for any reason. Great win lads and keep up the good work.

“Don’t worry, I am still alive”

Relief

Soucek had to be stitched up after Rondon’s boot went into his face while trying to get the ball, and it is relieving to know he is okay.

West Ham cannot afford to have such a key player out injured, and David Moyes will be a relieved man to know he is alright.

The midfielder did not have much luck against Everton, suffering a nasty injury after his goal was chalked off in the first-half.

Thankfully, he only needed a few minutes out and should be ready to play Thursday’s Europa League game and next weekend’s Tottenham Hotspur clash.

West Ham

While he has not hit the heights of last season, the Czech midfielder remains a huge player for the Hammers, and he was brilliant against the Toffees.

He will be looking to quickly rediscover his old form, and doing that will come as a timely boost for West Ham.

In other West Ham news, Lingard has named Hammers player who was on his case in training.
