Tom Winnifrith: Chris Cleverly is a serial fraudster

Chris Cleverly, who is believed to be a key London player in the consortium keen on buying West Ham, has been labelled as a fraud by Tom Winnifrith.

PAI Capital are interested in buying the club, but Winnifrith, who is a journalist and now the founder and editor of Shareprophets.com has written an expose about Cleverley and the consortium’s shady financial dealings in the past.

Being a Hammers fan, he opted to not put this piece behind a paywall so that supporters of the club can read about the consortium that claimed they tabled a second bid last week. [Sunday Times]

Winnifrith wrote, “I put this article outside paywalls so that supporters of the club, the Ferdinand Brothers who back PAI and the current owners are fully aware that Chris Cleverly is more than colourful, he is a serial fraudster and habitual liar.

“I have exposed his frauds over many years, seen off his intimidation of me as an investigative journalist and ensured that his company was booted off London’s AIM Market.”

Shady

There was something that didn’t meet the eye from the offset and now more information about PAI is emerging which would leave the Hammers fans to wonder whether they want people who are accused of the aforementioned things to take charge of the club.

The supporters have been the heart and soul of this institution for decades and at this point in them, they may be conflicted about what they want out of this takeover.

West Ham

David Gold and David Sullivan are extremely unpopular owners and the fans have grown sick over them failing to deliver repeatedly on the promises they’ve made in the past.

It may come down to the lesser of the two evils and at this point, we’re keen to see how PAI respond.

Tony Cottee has been appointed as the public face of the consortium and the onus is now on him to speak up about what’s going on and possibly address the above accusations.
