Tim Steidten to Arsenal mooted as Martin Allen speaks out at West Ham
Martin Allen has taken a sly dig at Tim Steidten after being impressed with his recruitment at West Ham.
The Irons great, who has also been disappointed by Julen Lopetegui this season, has been critical of Steidten’s work as the technical director at the London Stadium, often referring to him as “Timothy” on X.
In a latest social media jibe aimed at the German, Allen sarcastically tipped him for the vacant sporting director role at Arsenal – a prospect that the East London outfit fear may become a reality [The Telegraph].
“Arsenal looking for a sporting director; will Timothy get that job? He’s done great for West Ham”, he wrote on X [11 December].
Martin Allen impressed with Tim Steidten at West Ham
It is safe to say that West Ham’s actions on and off the pitch this season have left much to be desired for Allen.
Apart from his frequent criticism of Lopetegui and Steidten, the former midfielder also recently hit out at Carlos Soler.
The 59-year-old is of the view that the Hammers must not make the Spain international’s season-long loan deal from Paris Saint-German [PSG] permanent.
Meanwhile, Steidten is under pressure at West Ham after spending over £100million on nine new players in the summer transfer window.
He was the driving force behind the Irons’ £27million signing of 31-year-old, Niclas Fullkrug, whose Premier League playing time has been restricted to 74 minutes due to fitness issues.

However, the tables can turn in the blink of an eye in football and Steidten only needs one blockbuster transfer to change people’s minds about him.
He might do exactly that in the January transfer window by luring Mainz’s 24-year-old hitman Jonathan Burkardt to London.
In other West Ham news, a January exit is on the cards for this Irons defender after a new transfer update emerged.
