Tim Steidten slammed live on talkSPORT amid West Ham ‘Mess’ verdict
Troy Deeney has branded the boardroom events at West Ham United as a “mess”, noting technical director Tim Steidten.
Deeney, live on talkSPORT [25 November, 15:53], discussed the club on air with Paul Hawksbee, Andy Jacobs and Hammers fan and podcaster JaackMaate.
While remaining relatively positive about Julen Lopetegui’s side’s hopes away at Newcastle United on Monday night [25 November], he did admit there appears to be chaos upstairs at the London Stadium.
“There are all these different things playing off in the background. It seems like upstairs it’s a bit of a mess with the [technical] director of football, you can’t really see what’s going on,” Deeney said.
“So there’s a lot happening. It wouldn’t be West Ham if there wasn’t a lot happening.”
West Ham trip to Newcastle could be telling for Julen Lopetegui
West Ham United fans are optimistic to expect too much from their trip to Tyneside on Monday night, with Lopetegui having won just three of his 11 Premier League games in charge.
Many are unsure what the Spaniard is trying to achieve with fluctuation between some of his methods, and an apparent lack of understanding as to his best team.
It’s certainly not all on his shoulders – Steidten led the transition to a new footballing model at the club which involved a recruitment drive never before seen at West Ham, which has so far nosedived.
The players can also foot plenty of the blame, many of whom were delivered high hopes at the start of the season, and discipline has been poor.

Newcastle will be eager at the huge chance to move into the top six with a win in front of their home support at what will be a frosty St. James’ Park.
And that frost will ascend to the sky-high away end very quickly if the Irons do not give a good account of themselves upon their domestic return.
In other West Ham news, Newcastle’s rivals Sunderland appear to have two youngsters wanted by the Hammers.
