Tim Steidten ‘more likely to leave’ West Ham United in latest David Moyes twist

Tim Steidten would be more likely to leave West Ham if David Moyes remains the manager at the London Stadium, amid interest from Liverpool in recent weeks, according to Dean Jones.

The former Eurosport journalist claimed that the news that Moyes could be offered a new deal with the Hammers may push Steidten away after tension was reported between the two main men.

He did, however, suggest that he may simply be tempted because of the size of Liverpool compared to West Ham, as it would be difficult to turn down a move to Anfield.

“Perhaps Moyes staying adds credence to why Steidten might be more likely to leave West Ham and go to Liverpool right now,” Jones told Give Me Sport [8 February].

“But I think we also have to weigh in that Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs you could ever be involved in, and it is extremely difficult to say no to them if they do come knocking.”

Could Steidten go from West Ham to Liverpool?

Like it or not, a move to Liverpool represents a sizeable step up from West Ham, and Steidten would be silly not to at least consider the role if he believed it could be on the table for him shortly.

This is not the first time in recent days that it has been said the Hammers’ technical director would find it very difficult to turn down a move to Liverpool if the Merseyside club put an offer on the table.

When Jurgen Klopp revealed he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, the club began their plans for the future, with Steidten mooted as an option for a role upstairs.

West Ham

Rumours have emerged out of the London Stadium since the summer that Steidten doesn’t exactly have a smooth working relationship with David Moyes, so if the manager is set to hold on to his position, perhaps Steidten will want out.

The latest Moyes contract news was that the East London club have delayed talks as a result of pressure from the fans and the team’s poor form of late.

In other West Ham news, a key trio appear to have missed training this week.
