Tim Steidten makes new West Ham United transfer admission as summer plans emerge

West Ham United technical director Tim Steidten has admitted the Irons won’t have to sell to buy players in the summer transfer window.

Julen Lopetegui’s side have already been active in the transfer window bringing both Luis Guilherme and Wes Foderingham to the London Stadium while several players have also been linked with potential exits.

Further additions are expected between now and the start of next season, particularly in attack, but unlike last season Steidten has insisted the Hamers are in a position to recruit freely this summer.

As quoted by Roshane Thomas on X (1 July) he said: “It will be a busy summer for me and Julen.

“We don’t have to sell in order to buy players this summer.”

Are West Ham United close to announcing any new signings at the London Stadium?

In an era of the Premier League where teams up and down the division appear desperate to sell players to comply with profit and sustainability rules, it is refreshing to hear that the Hammers are confident in their financial position.

Whether or not the Irons are able to go out and spend tens of millions of pounds on new players here there and everywhere remains to be seen, but they certainly are expecting to be busy between now and the start of the season.

The early additions have been positive and speculation seems to suggest there could be a few other stars through the door. Hopefully, those deals can be completed quickly and smoothly to ensure Lopetegui can begin work with his side.

Every supporter would have liked to have seen more early additions made, but the transfer window is only a matter of weeks old. It shouldn’t be a shock that the Irons haven’t completely rebuilt the squad from top to bottom.

If Steidten is to be believed, there should be plenty to be excited about in the coming weeks.
