Tim Steidten makes Jarrod Bowen approach after West Ham United win v Crystal Palace
West Ham United technical director Tim Steidten took to the field to congratulate Jarrod Bowen after the clash with Crystal Palace, according to Sean Whetstone.
The Hammers picked up their first three points under the management of Julen Lopetegui with an impressive 2-0 win over the Eagles on Saturday (24 August).
New Irons skipper Bowen picked up his first goal since taking on the armband from Kurt Zouma and according to Whetstone, Steidten was one of the first to approach the England international after the full-time whistle.
Writing on X on Sunday (25 August) he said: “West Ham Technical director Tim Steidten was one of the first on the Selhurst park pitch at the final whistle on Saturday to congratulate Hammers captain Jarrod Bowen on the win.”
Will Jarrod Bowen exit West Ham after London Stadium transfer rumours?
The summer transfer window started with plenty of speculation around Bowen’s future at the London Stadium, with reports suggesting Newcastle United were keen to poach the winger’s signature [Caught Offside, 25 May].
But with only a matter of days before deadline day and the new Premier League season underway, it seems incredibly unlikely that the England international will be going anywhere anytime soon.
Handing him the captain’s armband was a huge statement as it showed that West Ham considered Bowen to be part of their long-term plans.
Of course, a massive bid could certainly change that, but it will have to be a life-changing fee for Lopetegui and Steidten to even consider it.
While this is still a new project under the former Real Madrid boss’ management and Bowen’s captaincy, the early signs suggest that the building blocks are in place for future success in East London.
Hopefully, the win over Palace was just the start of something.
