Tim Steidten candidate for vacant Liverpool role as West Ham United stance emerges
West Ham technical director Tim Steidten is a candidate for the sporting director role at Liverpool, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Sports journalist reported via X on Wednesday (31 January) that the German who has helped finalise the signings of Kalvin Phillips, James Ward-Prowse and Mohammed Kudus is an option to fill the vacant role at Anfield.
Steidten is happy with his current role at the London Stadium however and so far he has had no direct contact with those in charge at Anfield over the position, despite being admired by the Reds.
Keep hold
West Ham have really managed to step up their recruitment level since Steidten arrived at the London Stadium. The German has overseen a massive shift in David Moyes’ playing squad that has allowed them to become a competitive force both in the Premier League and Europe.
The calibre of players that the Hammers are now signing has changed massively. The likes of Kudus and Edson Alvarez are some of Europe’s most desirable talents but chose West Ham over potentially bigger and more attractive options.
While a lot of that credit lies at Moyes’ door for the work that he has done on the pitch, it has certainly been aided by what Steidten has done behind the scenes and it would be a huge blow to lose him so early in his tenure in East London.
Hopefully, the fact that the German is happy in his current role with the Hammers will mean that he doesn’t opt to make the move to Anfield, but West Ham should be monitoring this situation incredibly closely to see how it may develop.
