Tim Steidten: Alex Crook shares what sacked West Ham chief bizarrely got up to

Tim Steidten went sightseeing around London as West Ham worked towards sacking the technical director, Alex Crook has revealed.

The Hammers have announced [4 Feburary] the decision to part ways with the chief, with Graham Potter bringing Kyle Macaulay to the London Stadium after working together at Chelsea.

With Steidten’s sacking clearly imminent, it is understood he had been blocked from accessing the club’s databases and had zero say in any transfers during the winter transfer window [Daily Mirror].

Speaking live via talkSPORT [4 February, 10:49am], Crook said: “It’s my understanding that Steidten had no input in the January transfer window, it was all Potter and McCaulay.

“In fact, someone told me that he’d been sightseeing in London for the past two or three weeks.”

Tim Steidten finally sacked from West Ham United

It was just a matter of time before the Hammers parted ways with Steidten, and that is even clear after Crook’s revelation of the former chief’s actions over the past few weeks.

He had fallen out with David Moyes towards the end of the Scot’s tenure, being asked to stay away from Rush Green, which seemed to have happened once again under Julen Lopetegui.

There is clearly a trend in East London and it cannot be put down to the managers.

While he can be praised for some of his transfers, he created such a toxic environment at the London Stadium and continued to mess up more deals than sealed them.

Luis Guilherme and Niclas Fullkrug, so far, have been absolute flops in East London but many supporters could have called that after splashing £27million on a 32-year-old striker [BBC Sport].

Macaulay has the chance to become a much-loved figure at the London Stadium but only if he and Potter work together and bring suitable players in during the summer transfer window.
