Thomas Tuchel was under pressure to play Armando Broja at Chelsea after failed sale to West Ham

Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel was reportedly under pressure to play Armando Broja who was not sold to West Ham.

According to the Guardian, the German, who has now been sacked at Stamford Bridge, wanted him to be sold to the Hammers who had made a £30million offer.

However, the club went against his wishes to keep him and forced him to give him minutes despite him not intending to do that.

West Ham

Missed opportunity?

West Ham signed Gianluca Scamacca so it wasn’t a Broja or bust situation for them this summer.

However, it was clear that David Moyes prioritised a move for the Albanian and that would’ve made a lot of sense.

Broja has Premier League experience and has been proven himself a potent goal scorer in the English top flight.

Scamacca, on the other hand, was back off a good season in Serie A but there were doubts about whether or not he’ll be able to adapt to the English game.

Ideally, Broja would’ve fit the bill better for the Hammers and Tuchel would’ve gotten rid of a player he did not really rate.

Now that Scamacca is at the London Stadium, Moyes will not waste too much time in crying over the failed acquisition of Broja in the summer.

It’s time he gets the Italian to work in his system and ensures that he’s a better option than Michail Antonio.
