Thomas Tuchel talks emerge as West Ham United whittle down shortlist to three names
An “ambitious” West Ham move for current Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel cannot be ruled out, according to Give Me Sport.
Tuchel, who is due to step down as Bayern boss in the summer, has previously been mentioned as a possible target to replace David Moyes.
Speculation has gone quiet of late, with Manchester United since being linked with the German, but a move is not entirely out of the question.
West Ham chiefs are said to have discussed a move for Tuchel, who is one of three names on their shortlist alongside Paulo Fonseca and Marco Silva.
A report by Give Me Sport [23 April] read: “Tuchel is already on the lookout for his next job as he is set to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season, having seen Bayer Leverkusen beat the Bavarians to the Bundesliga title, and GMS sources have been informed that an ambitious West Ham move for the German cannot be discounted as he has been spoken about behind the scenes.”
Thomas Tuchel record at Bayern Munich 2023-24
As this report points out, Tuchel has a 2.2 points-per-game record at Bayern this season, yet that has not been good enough to keep pace with Leverkusen.
Tuchel’s time at Allianz Arena will ultimately be considered a failure, but it must be remembered he lifted the Champions League at Chelsea less than two years ago.
Bringing in the experienced and successful manager would be a coup for West Ham, and there is no reason why he cannot be persuaded to come on board.

As for the other two names, they do not carry the same excitement value. Silva has done a very good job in the Premier League with Fulham, but United can surely do better.
Fonseca is more of an unknown quantity, meanwhile, although a quick look at his CV shows he has done well at multiple clubs on the continent.
“Ambitious” it may be, but Tuchel is someone who could help take West Ham to the next level.
In other West Ham news, Moyes surely has no chance of a reprieve amid new data supplied by Opta.
