Thomas Tuchel news emerges at West Ham United after previous conversations held
West Ham held talks with Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel after he left Chelsea, but the German had reservations about joining, according to Sami Mokbel.
The Daily Mail journalist reported that the Hammers’ interest in Tuchel is long-term after he was linked with taking over from David Moyes at the London Stadium.
He went on to explain that the situation regarding his interest in the position may now have changed but hinted that it looks unlikely given his reservations in the past.
Speaking on the JDS Podcast [1 May], Mokbel explained: “They’ve got a long-term interest in Tuchel, but I know previously when Tuchel originally left Chelsea, West Ham were interested and Tuchel had reservations about joining the club. I’m not sure whether that will have changed.”
Thomas Tuchel update emerges in West Ham manager search
Moyes’ future is yet to be confirmed at the London Stadium despite the continuous links with other bosses, although given Mokbel’s claim, it seems unlikely that the next boss to take over will be Tuchel.
However, it has been reported elsewhere that Tuchel is ready for a return to the Premier League after leaving Chelsea in 2022 and is held in high regard by technical director Tim Steidten who is leading the managerial search.
With Bayern Munich competing in the latter stages of the Champions League, it remains possible that Tuchel could win his second Champions League trophy after doing so with the Blues – putting him in an ambitious position for the Hammers.

However, if they were able to convince him to drop his previous reservations about the appointment then it would be some coup for David Sullivan and the board, bringing a Champions League-winning boss to the London Stadium.
In other West Ham news, the club have been labelled “embarrassing” for their treatment of Moyes.
