Thomas Tuchel delivers verdict on West Ham and David Moyes

Thomas Tuchel has showered praise on David Moyes, saying he has been doing an “incredible” job at West Ham.

The Hammers will face Chelsea in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Sunday in a crucial London derby clash.

Tuchel has suggested that the Hammers are a very “physical” squad and that the players get tired after intense matches.

“I think he (David Moyes) is doing an incredible job in a very popular club and very emotional club, a team together,” said Tuchel, as quoted by Football London.

“A group with a coach that is enjoyable to watch. We follow the Europa League games, and I follow a lot of their games because it is nice to watch with a full investment physically.

“The players are absolutely tired after their matches. It is very emotional, a very physical squad. Very hard to break down, to create chances. Very dangerous on counter-attacks and set pieces.

“There is a lot to take care of. A lot of physicality and commitment to stand up against them. Full credit to them, the game will be tough.”

Intense

West Ham need to get back to winning ways as finishing in the top six should be their priority.

They are heading into this game on the back of a 1-1 draw against Burnley, and are without a win in their last two league games.

The Hammers have done incredibly well in the European competition this season, but it has taken a toll on their league form a bit.

Tuchel is probably right here. The Hammers do not boast a huge squad, and Moyes hasn’t been able to rotate his squad properly.

On top of that, the squad is imbalanced at the moment. For instance, Moyes does not have enough options up front, with Michail Antonio being the only striker for the club.

Antonio has gone through barren spells at times in terms of scoring, but luckily Jarrod Bowen has been phenomenal with his output.

Plus, they haven’t been lucky with injuries as well. Angelo Ogbonna won’t be fit for the rest of the season, while the likes of Kurt Zouma and Issa Diop are currently injured too.

It leaves the Hammers short of options at the back ahead of such a crucial game.
