‘The lads are buzzing’ – Jarrod Bowen details why West Ham are getting better each game
West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen has praised the togetherness of the squad ahead of the London derby clash with Tottenham this weekend.
Bowen joined the Hammers in January 2020 and he’s been a big factor in the club’s success over the past 14 months.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the Englishman claimed the good squad morale is the key to the change of fortune at the London Stadium.
“I think we’ve just got better and better each game,” Bowen said.
“The resilience is there, we’re such a tight-knit group. Everyone works for each other, even when things are going badly we’re always there for each other and obviously, when things are going well the lads are buzzing.
“It comes from the manager, what he expects from us, what he wants from us and it’s down to us on the pitch to perform and get the results that we want.
“Yeah we’re doing really well this season but there’s still a lot of football to be played and points to pick up if we want to go on and achieve something really special this season.”
Change of fortune
On reflection, Bowen’s arrival from Hull was the beginning of this push up the table for West Ham. He’s got six goals and six assists for the Hammers and has become a key player under David Moyes.
We were lacking creativity prior to his arrival, but his attacking ability and versatility have played a huge part in us driving towards Europe. However, this signing left his former club in complete despair.
Bowen had scored 16 Championship goals for Hull last season prior to his move. After he left, they went from the top six all the way down to the bottom of the table. They were relegated on the final day to League One.
The winger is one of our best-attacking forces. He’s completed 59% of dribbles successfully and has a passing accuracy of 74.4% [WyScout].
Our number 20 will continue to play a crucial role as we have a tough list of fixtures coming up. After Spurs, we face City, Leeds, United and Arsenal. If we’re going to qualify for Europe, it’s crucial we don’t drop off now.
In other West Ham news, this is our predicted XI to face Tottenham tomorrow.
