The Athletic’s James Pearce lambasts Karren Brady over European Super League claim
Prominent Liverpool journalist James Pearce has taken aim at West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady over her comments on the European Super League.
As reported by Sky Sports, Brady said the six Premier League sides that led the breakaway competition were “worse than snakes” and claimed that “trust has been vanquished” between them and the other 14 top-tier clubs.

The Athletic’s Pearce, who reports exclusively on Liverpool who were one of the founders of the ESL, bit back in a stinging online riposte on Saturday night.
Writing on his personal Twitter profile to his 690,000-plus followers, Pearce said: “Karren Brady taking the moral high ground. The same person who a year ago was calling for the Premier League season to be declared null and void.”
Battle of two evils
We’re not ones to defend Brady with GSB certainly not among our favoured people, but shouldn’t those associated with Liverpool be focusing on their own club after the ESL debacle?
That’s where the spotlight should be, on those greedy ‘Big Six’ owners who have tried to obliterate the English game as we know it.
Bringing up the ‘null and void’ issue isn’t helpful right now, and Brady’s probably bang on the money on the ESL point.
Trust is surely at an all-time low between Premier League clubs at the moment and that’s going to take some repairing to restore any sense of unity again.
Pearce doesn’t represent Liverpool outright but he has close ties to the club and with such a huge following there’s an onus on him to act responsibly and be a voice for the fans and public.
Perhaps he’s better off continuing to pile on the Liverpool owners, as he has done so, rather than potentially shifting the focus away.
