‘That’s my job’ – David Moyes sets out stall for future success at West Ham
David Moyes wants this season to be the beginning of West Ham consistently being around the top of the Premier League table.
The Hammers are enjoying an excellent campaign, and are currently sat 5th in the top-flight after 24 matches played.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Moyes claimed that he aims to build a team to do this every season.
He said: “I expect us to do it again. I expect us to do it next year and I expect us to do it the year after because that’s my job.
“I’m going to try and make sure that we’re a team who is consistently challenging round the top regularly, so to say this is your chance to do it or you’re not going to do it at all – it’s not that way I’m building and what I want to do at the club.
“I want to build something that is going to be consistent and regular.”
The sky’s the limit
Wherever we end up in May, we can’t deny that it’s been a fantastic season. Easily the best since we left Upton Park five years ago.
We’ve failed to finish higher than seventh place in the table since the 1998/99 season. It’s something surely to be on Moyes’ mind as he looks to complete the perfect turnaround from last year and get us into Europe.
We haven’t felt this way about a West Ham side for years. We’ve definitely had some dark days since leaving our old home, but things are finally beginning to look up.
Moyes has created a winning mentality at the club, and brought in some excellent players to drive us up the table. He knew all along that he was capable of doing this, which is why he came back for a second stint.
Even after being disrespected by Sullivan, who said we would go after a ‘high calibre’ manager after Moyes kept us up the first time.
Under the boss, and with this current squad, who knows where we could end up?
In other West Ham news, this is our predicted XI for the clash with Spurs.
