TalkSPORT pundit suggests Declan Rice could leave West Ham for Real Madrid

The rumours are circling more and more surrounding Declan Rice’s future at West Ham and everyone wants to get their word in on the matter.

The Daily Mail reported on Wednesday night that Hammers boss David Moyes had effectively given up on enticing the 23-year-old to stay at the London Stadium next season with Manchester United the leading candidates to sign him.

TalkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor though has urged the England international to swerve away from Old Trafford with a club on the continent a better option in his eyes.

West Ham

“Manchester United is probably the only club in the Premier League who he would go to,” Agbonlahor said. “But will he want to go to Manchester United?

“He wants to win trophies; he wants to play Champions League football. They might not have Champions League football next season and they don’t look like winning trophies anytime soon.

“If I’m Declan Rice, I’m not ruling out somewhere in Europe. When I look at Real Madrid, I see Toni Kroos who is getting on a bit, Luka Modric is still doing it but he is getting on as well.

“If Real Madrid had the money to go for him, he’d rather choose them than Manchester United.”

Goodbye

As the old saying goes, all good things must come to an end and it seems like the fairytale between West Ham and Rice is reaching that point.

West Ham

It’s been a fabulous few years for both and winning the Europa League would be the perfect send-off for the 23-year-old should he leave for pastures new.

And let’s be real, £150million, as the Daily Mail report his price tag being set at, would go an incredibly long way to rebuilding the Hammers side into one that can not only challenge for Champions League places but maybe go beyond that.

While Rice’s place in the team right now is very hard to replace, the long term future of the club will be far better off if he leaves and this window might be the best opportunity to get massive money for him too.

In other West Ham news, Moyes has spoken to the board over summer signings and this defender is high on the agenda.
