talkSPORT pundit compares Lucas Paqueta to Alan Shearer after what he did for West Ham United v Freiburg
Scott Minto was wowed by Lucas Paqueta as he compared the West Ham midfielder to Alan Shearer after what he did against Freiburg on Thursday (5 October).
Speaking live on co-commentary for talkSPORT, the pundit said the Brazilian international’s goal in the 2-1 victory over the Bundesliga side was an “Alan Shearer-type header”.
He added that with “how talented” the 26-year-old midfielder is with the ball on the floor, it is “amazing” to see him score like that in the air.

“I tell you what, one, that was a delicious ball, right foot, he’s out wide, he didn’t even go past the defender,” said Minto. But he got the half-a-yard, so he’s able to put them in, but what a header from Lucas Paqueta.
“It reminded me of Mark Hateley back in the day and an Alan Shearer-type header. He leaps above two defenders, and gives it such power, and also precision, giving the keeper no chance whatsoever.
“And how talented he is with the ball on the ground, to see him do that in the air, wow, amazing. It’s just a brilliant start for the Hammers.”
High praise
That is certainly high praise from Minto to compare Paqueta to one of the best forwards to have ever played in England and the Premier League’s leading goalscorer.
It was a superb goal from the midfielder, though, as he rose high off the ground to send a bullet header past the keeper and give West Ham the lead.
It was another exceptional performance from the Brazilian as he continues to impress at the start of this season alongside the rest of the Hammers players.

He has been instrumental to the excellent start to the campaign the Irons have made domestically and in Europe in the opening few games.
The fans will be looking forward to seeing him provide plenty more moments of brilliance as we look to have another successful campaign this season.
In other West Ham news, the club have no intention of handing one senior player a new contract.
