TalkSPORT pundit cannot believe eyes at David de Gea howler as Said Benrahma scores for West Ham Utd v Manchester United

Matt Holland has praised Said Benrahma for trying his luck as he opened the scoring for West Ham v Manchester United on Sunday, 7 May.

David de Gea made a howler of what should’ve been a routine save off the Hammers’ first shot on target in the game at the London Stadium.

Despite the visitors dominating possession and creating the lion’s share of the chances, they failed to break the deadlock.

Holland, a talkSPORT pundit, said on the Premier League world feed [07/05, 19:29], “Incredible isn’t it for Benrahma? Got to give it to him for trying. There have been too many mistakes from De Gea. He just pokes at it. David de Gea cannot believe it.”

Will take it

De Gea has been shamed for his displays but they’ve mainly been for his ability or lack of, to play out from the back.

He’s struggled a great deal and has failed to adapt to the modern game, but one thing he’s always been lauded was for his shot-stopping.

However, this time, it worked in favour of West Ham as Benrahma hit a shot straight at him and he failed to keep it out of the back of the net.

West Ham

West Ham and their fans will take whatever goal they get and it’ll be a good momentum booster if they can pick up points from one of the team teams in the league.

David Moyes will also get the joy of getting one over his former employers and it could end up being a happy day for the Hammers.

Michael Owen believes that winning the Conference League will be an “unbelievable” season and it remains to be seen if this performance can translate into another good one in the semi-finals.
