TalkSPORT broadcaster wowed by David Moyes after 2-0 West Ham United ‘masterclass’ v Arsenal
Tom Rennie was left blown away by David Moyes after his West Ham United “old school masterclass” in a 2-0 win against Arsenal on Thursday (28 December).
The Hammers stunned Arsenal at the Emirates on Thursday to record a third successive Premier League victory, denting the Gunners’ title challenge in the process.
It was a ruthless display by Moyes’ men who converted two of their three shots on target and had just over 20 per cent of possession all game to record a result which ensures they could enter 2024 in the Premier League top six.
And talkSPORT broadcaster Rennie, posting on his Twitter account after the game joked that the club must “erect the statue” for Moyes after his “old school masterclass” to record his first-ever away win at Arsenal.
He posted: “The Moyesiah providing another old school masterclass. The man has his mojo back… erect the statue.”
Smash and grab
It was an ultimate smash-and-grab from West Ham United and Moyes on Thursday that certainly stunned the Arsenal fans and Mikel Arteta himself.
The Gunners had all of the territory, possession and chances but simply could not convert which showed that luck and fortune were on West Ham’s side all night as Moyes finally ended his top-six Premier League away-day curse.

The game was certainly marred by controversy following Tomas Soucek’s opener when Jarrod Bowen appeared to have assisted the Czech with the ball seemingly out of play.
However, it was the correct call from VAR as there was no proof the ball was outside the field of play but the Hammers fans won’t care one bit as they saw their team record their first win at the Emirates in eight years.
One thing was simple, West Ham United were ruthless and clinical and that’s what you need to be when facing off against Arteta’s men on their turf so Moyes certainly deserves all the adulation and praise for setting up his team the way they did.
A memorable result to end their tremendous 2023.
In other West Ham United news, the club has made a “100%” Moyes sack decision, with David Sullivan set to schedule a sit-down early next year.
