TalkSPORT broadcaster smashes into ‘useless’ Konstantinos Mavropanos after what he did in West Ham United draw v Crystal Palace

Tom Rennie has hit out at “useless” Konstantinos Mavropanos after his mistake against Crystal Palace “cost” West Ham United the game.

The talkSPORT broadcaster, taking to his personal X account on Sunday (3 December) slammed Moyes’ tactics which contributed to a lack of intensity against the Eagles after their 1-1 draw at the London Stadium on Sunday.

Odsonne Edouard’s second-half finish salvaged a Premier League point for Crystal Palace after Mavropanos handed the ball to the Frenchman to fire home past Alphonse Areola and Rennie expressed his disdain at the East Londoners and the Greek defender.

He tweeted: “There’s not many teams who are just waiting to be beaten like Crystal Palace were today. Moyes should’ve sensed it and got the team up the field.

“Instead, the lack of intensity contributes to the useless Mavrapanos losing concentration and cost West Ham the game.”

Uncharacteristic

The former Arsenal and Stuttgart defender has looked largely assured and impressive throughout his short West Ham United career so far and the decision to add him to the squad has looked an absolute steel.

A costly error was always going to arrive at some point and it’s a shame it has come at such a pivotal point for his new club when the Hammers were closing in on a third straight Premier League victory.

West Ham

The Greek international will be mightily disappointed with his error but it happens to just about any Premier League defender and it is one he will learn from.

Rather than being critical of the Irons defender, credit must be given to Edouard for taking advantage in what looked like a difficult scenario for the Crystal Palace striker.

Mavropanos still won 100% of his aerial duels against the Eagles (7/7), won four of his five ground duels, recorded six clearances and won three tackles [SofaScore]. Had he not made that one error, his display would have been dubbed as another impressive one.

Such is the gruelling nature of Premier League football right now, he’s on the end of a first scathing criticism by the West Ham United faithful, and it may not be his last.

In other West Ham news, a BBC pundit has admitted that he’ll come out of retirement just to play with a West Ham star after what he did recently.
