TalkSPORT broadcaster slams West Ham United ‘madman’ Lucas Paqueta for what he did v Tottenham

West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta has been labelled a “madman” by Tom Rennie after an incident late in the Irons’ clash with Tottenham.

David Moyes’ side came from behind to claim a valuable point against their London rivals on Tuesday (2 April) with Kurt Zouma’s first-half goal cancelling out an early strike from Spurs winger Brennan Johnson.

The Hammers had opportunities to claim all three points, especially in stoppage time but they were unable to find the winning goal and talkSPORT broadcaster Rennie has slammed Paqueta for failing to fashion a late chance for Antonio.

Writing on X on Tuesday (2 April) he said: “Unlucky West Ham. Another strong performance from the front four. Would be great to have a bench, but it’s such a downgrade, you may as well not use it.

“If Paqueta wasn’t a madman he could have found Antonio at the end.”

Will West Ham United keep Lucas Paqeuta amid Manchester City transfer interest?

While Paqeuta is a “madman”, that element of chaos is what makes him such a special player and so important to Dvaid Moyes’ side at the London Stadium as he can turn a game on its head in a single action.

The Brazilian can quite easily waltz through an entire backline and slot the ball into the bottom corner without breaking a sweat, but he can just easily look as though he has never played the game before when presented with an easy scoring chance.

However, teams like Manchester City wouldn’t be interested in the Brazilian if he didn’t have plenty to offer. He may not be perfect, and that’s likely why he’s at West Ham, but he is a really special player.

Hopefully, the Hammers will be able to find a way to keep him at the London Stadium for a while yet as he still clearly has more to offer in a claret and blue shirt. It won’t be easy, but Moyes and his team will be doing all that they can.
