Stuart Pearce claims David Moyes in talks with West Ham over contract extension

West Ham United’s first team coach Stuart Pearce has revealed that the club and David Moyes are in talks over a new deal as they’ve agreed to extend his contract at the club.

Ever since Carlo Ancelotti’s decision to leave Everton and join Real Madrid, Moyes has been linked with the vacant managerial seat at Goodison Park. [The Times]

While there have been no credible reports of him having conversations with the club, it still left a feeling of anxiety among West Ham fans as they expect Moyes to stay at the club beyond this summer after guiding them to the Europa League.

Pearce, who is part of Moyes’ coaching staff, has come out on talkSPORT to provide a major update on his contractual situation. It seems like there is an air of positivity at the club and looks like the Scot is staying on at the club.

He said, ” He’s (Moyes) certainly speaking with the club now. For all intents and purposes, they’ve agreed to extend his contract.

“The club have made me an offer but my allegiance is with David because he’s the one who brought me here.”

Major update

For one of Moyes’ confidants to come out and say that there have been agreements about his contract, makes us breathe easy.

Not that we were realistically afraid of the possibility of him leaving for Everton, but it’s nice to get this uncertainty ahead of what’s going to be a huge transfer window.

We’ve got certain targets that we need to sign if we are to compete and finish in the top six next season and also to qualify for the latter stages of the Europa League.

The added revenue of playing in Europe will certainly result in Moyes been given more funds to maneuver in the transfer market.

We can’t wait for next season to begin with Moyesy at the helm.
