Steve Cooper twist emerges as West Ham United want Julen Lopetegui replacement

Steve Cooper is down the list of possible managers to take over at West Ham, according to Alan Nixon.

The Sun journalist reported on 6 January via his Patreon account that while he was at the game over the weekend, he is not understood to be among the frontrunners.

The Hammers suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City and David Moyes was also in attendance.

West Ham must not consider Steve Cooper

Cooper looked to be a talented manager when he came up with Nottingham Forest but quickly failed to adapt to life in the Premier League.

He showed a lack of pragmatism and adaptability to the English top flight and that resulted in him being sacked.

Leicester City then decided to take a punt on him and that failed too, so there’s no reason why Hammers should consider him as an option.

If they don’t have any proven Premier League managers ready to join, they can turn to Europe and hire someone successful and willing to take the step up or out of work.

Former Juventus manager Max Allegri would certainly be a quality option as he would bring a winning pedigree to the London Stadium.

TBR Football reported in December that the Hammers job is something that interests him so he may be worth taking a punt on.

In other West Ham news, sources claim the Hammers can now secure the services of a £40m player in January.
